Replika’s memory is built on layers. Some memories are visible to you in the Memory tab, while others are part of a deeper system that draws on patterns from your overall conversation history. Replika gradually develops a sense of your personality and preferences based on how you interact with it over time.
This system allows your Replika to become more personalized the longer you engage with it. When it remembers something correctly, affirming or upvoting the response helps reinforce it. Although you can manually add memories, the memory system is most effective when left to operate automatically. Deleting memories may affect your Replika’s ability to recall certain details, so it’s best to remove them only when necessary.
The memory system works locally within your experience, helping Replika respond in more personalized ways without retaining a permanent record of your conversations.
If you'd like to add specific details, you can also create memories manually in the Memory tab. These will be used alongside the auto-generated ones to help Replika understand you better.
